Brussels Airport: 1.7 million passengers in August, a 4.4% decrease

The passenger number of 1,741,400 shows a decrease of 4.4% from the figures of August 2008. This is the smallest dip in passenger numbers since the beginning of this year, but it must be added that August 2008 was not a strong month. The evolution of negative growth was stimulated by a growth in long haul traffic, both with Brussels Airlines and other carriers operating from Brussels Airport. The number of holiday travelers decreased from last year. This is explained by the excellent summer weather in Belgium compared to the heavy rainfall of 2008. Freight

In August, Brussels Airport counted 19.600 movements, a decrease of 5,4% over last year.
